SHEILA MULANAX, MA, T-LPC-MHSP
Sheila Mulanax
Sheila grew up in McAllen, Texas, located at the southernmost point of Texas on the U.S.-Mexico border. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Texas-Pan American in 2014. In 2018, she returned to graduate school and obtained her Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Texas Rio Grande Valley, a Hispanic-serving institution.
In December 2022, Sheila moved to Memphis, Tennessee, in response to the growing need for bilingual mental health professionals. Over the years, she gained extensive research experience, assisting in data collection and analysis for various studies. In 2022, she co-authored a research study and presented the findings at the American Public Health Association (APHA) national conference in Boston, MA. Throughout her studies, she administered psychometric tests, conducted diagnostic interviews, and became familiar with integrated psychological assessments and personality measures.
Sheila is passionate about helping individuals regain confidence in themselves by providing effective interventions and coping techniques, particularly through cognitive-behavioral therapy. She tailors the structure of her sessions based on client preferences and offers all modalities in both English and Spanish.
As a bilingual therapist, Sheila works with children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families facing challenges related to self-esteem, confidence, life transitions, relationship difficulties, parenting, anxiety, depression, trauma, behavioral issues, chronic mental health conditions, substance use, and family conflicts. She has experience in various outpatient settings, providing individual, family, group, and couples therapy. Sheila specializes in developing personalized treatment plans and implementing evidence-based interventions to foster positive change.

She understands that healing looks different for everyone and aims to create a safe and empathetic space where clients feel heard, understood, and supported throughout their therapeutic journey.
In her free time, Sheila enjoys spending time with her family, going to the gym, reading, and traveling.
She holds a temporary license as a Professional Counselor with a Mental Health Service Provider designation. While working towards full licensure, she is under the supervision of a fully licensed professional counselor (supervisor’s information available upon request).
