For most people, having to juggle family, school/work and daily responsibilities can feel like a delicate balancing act in this circus we call life. It’s as if you are slowing walking a tightrope across the big ring, and though you make it look easy to your audience of friends, family, colleagues and community, on the inside you are a mess! You know that if one more task is added to your plate, the scales will tip and it will all come crashing down!
With all the demands that get thrust upon us, it’s no wonder we may find it difficult to prioritize our mental health. When we finally decide it’s time to do something about it, there can be an internal struggle: How did I get here? Are my problems really that bad? Is it selfish of me to be focused on myself when there are so many serious issues going on in the world? I’m here to tell you that you are not alone. After earning my degree in Marital and Family Therapy from The Family Institute at Northwestern University in 2002, I suffered from Imposter Syndrome, lacking confidence and doubting my ability to be able to make a difference in life. Two decades later, the initial spark that drove me to want to help others overcome their mental health issues was reignited, inspiring me to finally live up to my true potential and dedicate myself to becoming a therapist.
I have experience in individual, family and couples therapy and crisis counseling. I am especially passionate about assisting victims of narcissistic abuse and religious trauma to break their chains and come into knowledge of their true selves. I also love to mentor young girls and teens, making efforts to instill confidence in themselves so that they too can live up to their full potential. I strongly believe that the goal is not only to be alive, but to THRIVE! From personal experience, I can attest that healing comes from the journey, and I am looking forward to helping you navigate your way to your best life.
